Tooth Stone Cleaning
ABOUT

What is Teeth Cleaning?
Gum problems are mostly caused by plaque accumulating on and around the teeth. The best ways to remove these plaques are to brush your teeth twice a day, use dental floss or an interdental brush, and rinse your mouth. However, no matter how well you take care of your teeth, there may be places between your teeth that you cannot easily reach. In these areas, plaques accumulate and form structures called calculus, which are very difficult to clean by brushing alone. If calculus is not removed, it can cause more plaque to accumulate and eventually cause gum problems. You should consult your dentist in order to prevent gingival problems and to prevent these problems.

How is it applied?
Teeth cleaning should only be done by a dentist. In the cleaning process, first of all, dental stones are cleaned with the help of ultrasonic devices or hand tools. In another step, the tooth is smoothed up to four times and the tooth is polished. While the tooth is polished, the remaining plaque is removed and the tooth gains a brighter appearance. This is not a harmful procedure for the teeth. On the contrary, cleaning the surface of the teeth makes it difficult for bacteria and plaque to adhere to the teeth. After tartar cleaning, the surface of the tooth comes to a protective layer called pellicle. This layer is formed literally two hours after tartar cleaning. Therefore, only water can be drunk for two hours after cleaning. As a result of this process, the teeth gain an aesthetic appearance and are protected against possible plaque formation. Your dentist will advise you on how often you should repeat this procedure.

Does it hurt to clean the tartar?
In adults, the biggest causes of tooth loss are due to gum problems and the bones surrounding the tooth. Gum disease is caused by bacteria that adhere to the teeth and are called plaque. If the plaques formed in the teeth are not cleaned, the plaques turn into dental calculus, and the accumulation of these plaques causes the increase of harmful bacteria in the patient's mouth. As a result of all these, spaces called pockets appear in the area between the teeth and gums and gum recessions occur. In addition, these bacteria secrete enzymes that cause the destruction of the bones around the tooth, and eventually tooth loss occurs. Regular dental check-ups will protect you from dental and gingival diseases.
